Hatha Yoga is to be firm enough to hold the Assana, and soft enough to let the energy flow.

Any mental need or want, when we are looking after happiness that comes from our concepts or ideas including god or enlightenment, becomes a cover before our eyes that does not allow us to be happy…

Western Practice Can Definitely Work With Hatha Yoga

3/28/2012

While for the mind, relaxation is to rest in a comfortable bad with soft pillows and blankets, an important part of the Hatha Yoga relaxation is creating positive tension. This alignment is possible when the muscles are strong enough to support the bones and prevent the collapsing of the skeleton. The main stream, western physical practice can definitely work with Hatha yoga practice because together they can develop the skeleton muscles so the body can be held upright. The main secret is to know how to balance. If we continue and focus on the strengthening and growing our muscles, we can come to a point where this mass is actually blocking the energy flow in our body and cause loss of mobility. The Hatha Yoga will take the tuned muscles in order to keep the alignment and will continue and stimulate the body, while creating a smooth energy flow till we come to the point of balance where the body completely disappears and we grow into the realization that we are not the body.

Grace of a king or queen

2/13/2012

In order to maintain the correct alignment, mood, and flow - yoga practitioners ought to see themselves moving
with the grace of a king or queen. This is not to feel better than others, but to develop a heightened awareness to the way one moves.  A graceful movement, full of awareness and peace will allow energy to flow and no injuries to occur.

In hatha yoga we use the body like a paint brush, to paint the beauty of who we really are - infinite love, bliss and knowledge.

Body Mind Connection

2/7/2012

The mind can not be influenced or stopped directly. It is a very important point to understand. Many of my students and friends come to me and tel me "I can not sleep with this none stop chattering in my head", "it is difficult, my mind is so troubled..."
The mind influences the body, that means that the body can influence the mind, if we are sad our body reflects it, if we are happy the body reflects it as well. You can try for your self,  put a happy bodily posture and you will see how your mental state changes...
In order to experience the body we use slow movement and along with it concentration, relaxation and deep breathing .

The more we can place the attention in the body  instead of the thinking process, the stronger the affect will be on our mind.
It is important here to say that the aim is not to kill the mind or destroy it. The mind is a wonderful tool, but in this state it gets warn down. And come to a point that we can not concentrate and use it properly. This Hatha yoga practice slows the flow of thoughts and the consequences will be a clear and alert mind along with  feeling of joy and peace.

In any physical practice, remember what you can not do in perfection as a slow movement.
You will never do in perfection as fast movement.
